TĀMAKI MAKAURAU, NEW ZEALAND · EMERGING FIGURATIVE ARTIST
Kyra Alkamil
Kyra Alkamil is an emerging artist from Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, currently undertaking a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Elam school of Fine Art.
about
Kyra’s practice explores storytelling through the medium of oil pain, often exploring themes of memory, family and human connection.
Kyra’s work acts as a mode of storytelling, often depicting familiar scenes and narratives. Sensitive and intimate depictions of family, friends and personal settings are translated through the medium of oil paint. This considered approach to painting allows for personal reflections of the works, as well as creating a new world for the art to be shared and enjoyed in.

Kyra Alkamil
A crowded room captures the uneasy space between shared celebration and feeling alone.
In The After Party, Kyra Alkamil brings together overlapping figures, raised hands and loosely painted faces. A vivid blue top draws the eye towards the central figure, while muted greys and dark clothing surround the gathering.
The painting explores a moment when the party’s energy remains, but a sense of connection has begun to slip away. Blurred features soften individual identities, inviting reflection on how people can be physically close yet emotionally distant.
This work would bring character and a thoughtful narrative to a living room, study or entranceway, with details that encourage a closer look.
