NEW ZEALAND · CONTEMPORARY GLASS & MIXED-MEDIA ARTIST

Amy — Morgan Brown Artworks

Amy is the contemporary New Zealand artist behind Morgan Brown Artworks. Her bold, high-energy work reimagines the traditional painted surface through glass, acrylic pouring, metallic finishes and large-scale experimentation. Bringing together graffiti, pop art, neon colour and playful wordplay, Amy creates works that are immediately recognisable and difficult to ignore.

about

A graduate of Elam School of Fine Arts, Amy is one of a small number of artists in Aotearoa specialising in painting on glass.

The smooth, reflective quality of glass plays an active role in her work. Colour appears luminous, neon tones become more intense and bold lines carry a high-voltage clarity. The surface introduces depth and movement, allowing each artwork to shift with the light and the surrounding space.

Through Morgan Brown Artworks, Amy’s practice moves across glass painting, experimental abstraction, acrylic pouring, metallic finishes and large-scale works. Her visual language draws on the raw energy of graffiti and the immediacy of contemporary pop art, combining vivid colour with humour, urban references and clever wordplay.

Central to her practice is Park Life, a playful abstract universe inhabited by wild and domestic animal characters. Bright, stylised and full of personality, these figures become light-hearted mirrors of human behaviour and modern life.

Beneath the humour sits an observant eye. Amy’s characters reflect the personalities, contradictions and small absurdities found in everyday life, allowing each work to feel both entertaining and strangely familiar.

There is a sense of freedom throughout Amy’s work—colour is unapologetic, lines are energetic and the unusual glass surface creates an experience that changes as the viewer moves around it.

Recent presentations of her work have received a strong response from collectors, including an almost sold-out showing at the 2026 Baradene Art Show.

Driven by a love of experimentation, vibrant colour and urban storytelling, Amy creates art designed to spark joy, invite humour and bring a room fully to life.

Because sometimes art does not need to whisper.
