VILL∆IN$
A wide-eyed face, vivid colour and scattered lettering give this painting a restless, expressive presence.
In What Do You Offer, VILL∆IN$ surrounds a boldly outlined face with turquoise, blue, red and mustard yellow. Uneven teeth, a green spiral eye and elongated forms rising above the head create a striking character, while handwritten words and symbols fill the surrounding layers.
Working intuitively with acrylic paint and Posca markers, VILL∆IN$ brings his inner world into the “organised chaos” of his paintings. Faces recur throughout his practice, reflecting the different ways a person can be perceived. This work leaves its questions open, inviting viewers to make their own connections.
Its vertical format would bring colour and character to a living room, entranceway or creative workspace, displayed alone or alongside other expressive works.
