Looping orange, turquoise and green brushstrokes create a lively dance across this elongated wall sculpture.
In Smash Palace Puppets, Kirsty Black sweeps broad ribbons of colour across a soft white ground. Visible brush marks give the curves texture and energy, while small coloured dots punctuate the composition. Rounded ends and narrow gaps between the four plywood tiles add structure to the free-flowing painting.
Kirsty’s accompanying story—“The Smash Palace Puppets lived up to their name!”—offers a mischievous invitation to imagine the action. Gestures suggest tumbling characters and unexpected encounters, leaving the unfolding story to the viewer.
Four bevelled plywood tiles are mounted on a single lightweight backing board. Displayed vertically or horizontally, this work would bring colour and movement to an entranceway, living room or dining area.
