Rimu Cross Cut

$3,800.00

Jamie Adamson

A commanding circular wall sculpture that brings the warmth, grain and history of native rimu into a contemporary geometric form.

Rimu Cross Cut by New Zealand artist Jamie Adamson is a large sculptural wall piece handcrafted from heart rimu. Its richly toned surface is divided by an intricate network of dark lines, creating a shifting pattern of irregular shapes across the timber.

The design feels both structured and organic. Its intersecting lines suggest cracked earth, stone formations, cellular patterns or a landscape seen from above, while the natural variations in the wood grain remain clearly visible beneath.

Jamie’s background in boat building informs the precision and craftsmanship of the work. Years spent shaping timber and turning drawn ideas into functional forms have developed into a sculptural practice that balances careful construction with an instinctive response to the material.

At 95 centimetres in diameter, Rimu Cross Cut has a strong architectural presence while retaining the warmth and character of natural timber. It would make a striking focal point above a fireplace, console, bed or large sofa, or bring warmth and texture to an entrance, office, boardroom, lodge or contemporary hospitality space.

Architectural. Textural. Grounded.
