Four pale horses emerge beneath a swirl of vivid colour, creating a scene poised between movement and dream.
In Guided by the rosy hand, Ciara Doelman brings together cream and rose-toned horses with bright yellow manes against a deep blue and purple background. Their overlapping bodies and lifted legs create a rhythmic procession across the lower half of the painting.
Above them, loose passages of turquoise, orange and violet suggest an imagined landscape. The contrast between the outlined horses and freely painted surroundings gives the work a sense of energy, leaving its story open to interpretation.
This painting would bring colour and narrative intrigue to a living room, bedroom or entranceway, with its pale figures standing out against the richly coloured background.
