In Fight For Peace, Trudy Evans combines a giclée print, ink-stamped lettering and embroidery thread in a dense black-and-white composition. Words including “peace”, “conflict”, “war” and “justice” overlap around the central symbol, while stitching traces its fragmented edges and loose threads extend below.

Inspired by the chaos of protest in the pursuit of peace, the work explores the tension between peace and conflict. The connective nature of stitch and thread reflects the relationships between those who fight for peace, bringing a tactile dimension to the layered language.

Presented in a black frame with a generous white surround, this work would bring graphic detail and thoughtful focus to a living room, study or entranceway, rewarding a closer look at its words, textures and connections.
