Created while Adrienne Rewi was living in Victoria, Australia, Far Hills is an intuitive response to the vastness and continually shifting character of the Australian landscape. A dark, distant ridgeline anchors the composition, while the land below unfolds through sweeping gestures, layered marks and loosely drawn forms.
Soft blues, earthy browns, warm coral and flashes of yellow move across the canvas, suggesting changing light, vegetation and the energy beneath the landscape’s surface. Rather than describing one particular view, the work captures the feeling of looking across an immense terrain—its distance, unpredictability and quiet power.
