Conespiracy II

$1,500.00

Dean Proudfoot

A contemplative view of Earth’s satellite through the eyes of a lone explorer. Conespiracy plays on the familiar idea of conspiracy surrounding the first moon landing, with the humble traffic cone taking the place of the astronaut and creating an unexpected connection between the everyday and the extraordinary.

Clever in its wordplay and visual puns, the work playfully explores the lingering doubts and theories surrounding Neil Armstrong’s historic first steps on the moon. Was it exactly as we were told? Or is there another story hiding beneath the surface?

Adding another layer to the mystery, the shadow of the photographer appears in the scene — but notably, there’s no space suit. Just another detail for the viewer to ponder. Is it simply a playful visual twist, or does it add fuel to the conespiracy?

The humble traffic cone. Bright orange. Universally cursed. Almost never questioned.

Conespiracy turns an ordinary road object into something strange, playful and thought-provoking — leaving the viewer with a smile, a question, and perhaps just a little doubt.
