Sophie Pendergast
Fresh greens and turquoise glow within a warm timber surround, creating a small window into an imagined landscape.
In Verdant, Sophie Pendergast brings together reclaimed wooden fragments within an octagonal frame. Lime green, turquoise and touches of yellow sit alongside natural timber, while chipped paint, exposed grain and uneven surfaces give the composition depth and character.
Made from reclaimed mataī, kauri and rimu, the work gives new life to materials with their own history. Inspired by old barn and port windows, its frame suggests looking out towards a landscape beyond, with colours that evoke vegetation, water and sky.
This compact wall sculpture would bring colour and warmth to an entranceway, bedroom or wall above a small desk, complementing plants, natural timber and simple interiors.
