A winding pink stairway leads through colourful houses and rounded trees beneath a bright yellow sun.
In The Way Home, Stephanie Parkes creates an imagined neighbourhood of blue, yellow, orange and cream buildings. Dark rooftops and arched doorways anchor the scene, while curved green trees and a spiral-patterned canopy bring a playful rhythm to the composition.
Working with acrylic and oil pastel, Stephanie combines bold colour with simplified geometric forms. The painting reflects the stylised landscapes of her earlier practice, inviting the eye to follow the steps and discover the shapes gathered along the way.
This small painting would bring cheerful colour to an entranceway, kitchen nook or study, pairing beautifully with natural timber, pale walls and simple furnishings.
