Bright circles, crosses and geometric shapes bring a playful rhythm to this bold black-and-white grid.

In Noughts and Crosses, Sue Anson arranges nine individual motifs against black squares, separated by a textured white and black framework. Red, blue, yellow and orange accents draw the eye from one shape to the next, revealing a different combination in each square.

Inspired by an appreciation of colour, shape and experimentation, Sue brings a playful approach to the familiar structure of a game. The contrasting marks and irregular edges give the composition an expressive, hand-painted character.

This painting would bring a graphic touch to a living room, hallway or creative workspace, sitting comfortably in both colourful and neutral interiors.
