Sweeping clouds and reflected evening light capture the drama of Auckland’s west coast.
Taken just before sunset at Māori Bay, Muriwai, in November 2022, this photograph draws peach and pink cloud trails across a blue sky. The rocky coastline holds its shape beneath them, reflected in the wet sand.
David Prentice used a three-minute exposure to capture the movement of the clouds. Despite the image’s stillness, the conditions were wild: the wind blew his tripod over before he managed to take the shot.
This piece would bring depth and warm coastal colour to a living room, bedroom or entryway.
