Shimmering blue-green wings and warm timber bring the kōtare’s distinctive colouring to life.
In Kōtare Kingfisher — Premium Layered Wall Art | A3, marbled acrylic forms the bird’s wings, tail and head details, contrasting with a warm reddish timber chest and pale oak throat. Glossy black accents define the beak, eye and feet, while a New Zealand map, fern shapes and flowing koru elements complete the composition.
Designed and made in Andrew’s Helensville workshop, each section is individually laser-cut, finished and assembled by hand. The layered construction creates depth and shadow against a dark woodgrain backing, enclosed in a solid oak frame. Pearlescent acrylic catches the light, revealing subtle shifts in blue and green.
This piece would bring colour and a connection to Aotearoa to an entryway, living room or reading corner, pairing beautifully with natural timber and warm neutral walls.
